I’m pretty sure that there are a lot of people who wonder why I would own an Arbonne business
It’s a great question, but has a pretty simple answer. (not a short one, but a simple one)
Some Background Information
Lisa and I are the proud parents of a little boy with Down Syndrome. His name is Mattie Mistkowski. Along with his sister, Lauren, Mattie is the joy of my wife Lisa and my life! He’s happy, healthy, very smart, handsome, and very rarely has a bad day. If he does, he’s not feeling well. Mattie has gotten excellent care and the education that he receives is exceptional. He’s doing really, really well in so many ways. We are really blessed as parents to have such a special person in our lives. I learn from him EVERY DAY!
As a parent, we worry about our children. Today and in the future. I especially worry about Mattie’s future. It’s something that I wake up in the middle of the night and think about. A lot.
Past Business Experiences
I’ve been in sales and marketing my entire adult life. I’ve worked for some great companies like, Nestle; Carnation; Nabisco, Gillette, and Staples. All in direct sales or sales management. This “business model” is based on manufacturer to distributor to consumer. The end users were all consumers of the products manufactured by these companies or sold by these companies.
I’ve started my own business about 10 years ago with my wife Lisa. www.proformaroi.com – This business continues to grow year after year, even in this bad economy. As a business owner you experience the anxieties associated with owning your own business.
- Prospecting endlessly
- Networking endlessly
- Following up….following up…..following up!
- Hearing more “NO’s” than “YES’s”
- Cash flow issues
- Going weeks, months, without ever seeing a pay check.
- Paying your own health care
- Planning for my own retirement
I love what we do at Proforma. We’ve had a lot of success because of the efforts that Lisa and I have made over the years. Our business continues to grow. And I see myself doing this for a LONG time. Which is great because I’m a lousy golfer and I don’t sit still very long anyway.
So Why Arbonne?
Arbonne is a Network Marketing company.
Network Marketing is ONE form of a business model. Just like the more “traditional” business models that we are more familiar with as consumers.
The difference is that Network Marketing companies avoid the “traditional” route to the consumer and go directly from the manufacturer to the consumer. Instead of paying for all the costs involved in the “traditional” business model, the Network Marketing company pays commissions to Independent Consultants who “share the products” with consumers. They get paid when the consumers make a purchase.
The beautiful part about the Network Marketing business marketing is that it offers a RESIDUAL income opportunity. This is the key component for me in terms of why I started an Arbonne business. Residual income comes as a DIRECT result of my sales efforts and can grow UNLIMITED and could continue FOR YEARS.
So why Arbonne?
- First, my family loves the products. We don’t love all of the products, but we really love a lot of them.
- There are NO CANCER causing or TOXIC ingredients in the products (check your shampoo in your shower to see if your current shampoo can make this claim)
- The products are NEVER tested on animals
- The products are CONSUMABLE. This is important when deciding if a Network Marketing company is right for you. Consumable products means that consumers will CONSUME them and then have to buy them again. This is huge because then comes repeat purchases.
- The Arbonne business offer unlimited income opportunities. This means that I get paid for the efforts that I put into the business.
- Arbonne provides all the tools necessary to get my business going immediately, including a website that processes credit cards. There is a ton of marketing, training, and selling tools to help me become successful. I don’t want to say “plug and play”, but it’s pretty close.
- Arbonne offers a lot of incentives for doing well. Like incentive trips to Atlantis WITH my family. I’ve traveled a lot on business and NONE have ever told me that it was ok to bring my kids. NONE!
- I’m part of a great team of people. I’ve met tons of people, mostly women, who have been very supportive of my start up efforts. From all over the country.
- This business is RESIDUAL and IT CAN BE WILLED to someone. This is where Mattie Mistkowski comes into the picture. Not only can I make money to help take care of him in this lifetime, but now I have a business that can help to take care of him when I’m no longer here.
My Arbonne business can be willed over to someone and the money from the business can be used to take care of Mattie for the rest of his life. This is HUGE! I mean REALLY HUGE! I spent countless nights thinking about how we can take care of Mattie. And then I was introduced to Arbonne. It may sound idealistic, but I’m pretty sold on the fact that if I build an incredible business that can continue to grow, my son and daughter will be able to share in the long term benefits.
So, there you have it. That’s why I put myself out there. Quite honestly, a guy selling skin care or health and wellness products? I take my fair share of abuse from friends. But, I’ve taken friendly abuse my entire life. I keep my eye firmly on the “END GOAL” and this helps me work toward what I need to do.
PS: Lisa and I support Down Syndrome Research a great deal. A portion of every sale goes to help support the efforts of Down Syndrome Activities and Down Syndrome Research.
